The invention relates to a device (1) for receiving and processing video signals, said device comprising an MPEG encoder (2) provided with an input (3) via which the video signals can be supplied to the MPEG encoder (2), and an output (4) via which the received and processed video signals can be transmitted to another device (5) for further processing, especially for image representation. According to the invention, said device is provided with at least one memory unit (6) that can be controlled by the MPEG encoder (2) and in which the received video signals are stored, processed and transmitted to the other device (5) after processing.
