An electronic damping system for a wheeled vehicle such as a bicycle includes a damping assembly having first and second members (120, 130), a valve (218) having an opening and a motor (221) which can be used to control the area of the opening. A sensor (201) is used to indicate the relative position of the first and second members (120, 130) and an electronic damper controller (160) coupled to the sensor computes a control signal to provide a desired damping force.
