The invention relates to a device for producing a cabling with alternating direction of lay (SZ cabling) from individual strands, said device comprising a fixed guiding element for the individual strands, a plurality of accumulation disks that are arranged in the tractive direction of the individual strands and can be driven in alternating directions, and a stranding disk. The disks can be driven by transmission elements by means of at least one drive, a common drive being provided for at least two disks. The aim of the invention is to enable the exact determination of the rotational speed and rotational speed ratios for and between the individual disks, even for the maximum rotational speeds and working speeds. To this end, all disks (7) which can be driven by means of an individual drive (3) common to the disks are connected to at least one rigid element (5) by means of the associated transmission elements (1, 4, 8) thereof. Said rigid element (5) is oriented essentially parallel to the tractive direction of the individual strands and can be pivoted about an axis (A) perpendicular to the tractive direction by means of the common drive (3). The axis (A) is located between the guide and the first disk (7) connected to the rigid element (5).
