The invention relates to a method for producing an ironing table. According to said method, a number of ironing table panels are provided, said panels differing in form and/or size and/or material and having an installation element that is identical for all ironing table panels and that fixes the ironing table panel to an ironing table frame. A number of ironing table frames are also provided, said frames differing in form and/or size and/or material and/or adjustability and having respective identical installation devices. Said installation devices are configured to act as counterparts to the identical installation elements, in particular in relation to the dimensions of the latter, in such a way that they can be mounted on each of the identical installation elements of the several ironing table panels. The final step of the method comprises the selection of an ironing table panel from the number of ironing table panels, the selection of an ironing table frame from the number of ironing table frames and the mounting of the selected ironing table panel on the selected ironing table frame.
