Push-button assembly, comprising a housing (16) consisting of a bowl-shaped head section (18) and a hollow shank portion (20), fastening means (22) for fastening the housing to a panel, a key (2) which can be operated by a user, a substantially panel-shaped transfer element (12) provided underneath the key, a switching element which is actuated by the transfer element, spring means (14) in order to force the key out of the housing, a circuit board (10) which is attached to the housing (16) between the key and the transfer element, an elongate internal connector (50) which is connected to the circuit board, a connector unit (24, 60) which comprises an auxiliary connector (52) which can be connected to the internal connector (50) and an external connector (54) which can be connected to an external circuit, and conductors connected to the connectors for providing a communication connection between the circuit board (10) and the external connector (54). The circuit board (10) carries light-emitting elements (48), the light of which can pass through the key (2).
