Abstract:
A power transmission belt (10, 30) has a compression section (16, 36), a tension section (12, 32), and a load carrying section (14, 34). The load carrying section (14, 34) has a plurality of reinforcing cords (22, 42). The reinforcing cords (22, 42) are formed from poly (p-phenylene-2, 6-benzobisoxazole) (PBO). In each reinforcing cord (22, 42), the cords have a yam twist greater than the cord twist, and the cord twist is in the range of one-fourth to one-half of a ply twist.
