The invention relates to a system (1) and a method for the fully automatic final inspection of components (2), in particular their actuatable functional units, with a robot (3) that comprises a testing device (8) for carrying out the final inspection. The method of the invention comprises the following steps: automatic orientation of the robot (3) and/or of the testing device (8) to the component (2) to be tested and/or to its functional unit using orientation data; reproducible execution of individual controls my means of the testing device (8), the implementation of the two last steps being repeated until a criterium for stopping the process is met and/or the final inspection has been fully carried out.
