It is illustrated a process for the production of tyres for vehicle wheels which comprises the steps of: a) building the tyres (8) on respective toroidal supports assembling a plurality of structural components of each of them according to a predetermined sequence at respective workstations (6); b) transferring the tyres (8) built on the toroidal supports to a vulcanisation plant (3); c) molding and partially vulcanising the tyres (8) on the toroidal supports in respective vulcanisation molds (4) associated with said vulcanisation plant (3); d) removing the partially vulcanised tyres (8) with the respective toroidal supports from the respective vulcanisation mods (4); e) completing the vulcanisation of the tyres (8) outside said vulcanisation molds (4) by means of the heat given to the tyres (8) by said toroidal supports.
