The method includes the acquisition of at least one geometric characteristic of the section. According to the invention, the acquisition of the geometric characteristic includes: - a step for reading a register (201) each record of which is associated with a model or a category of spectacle frame models, with a search for a record corresponding to the model or to he category of spectacle frame models to which the selected spectacle frame belongs, and – a step for reading said at least one geometric characteristic of this corresponding record, if a corresponding record of the register is found.
