The invention relates to supplying a printing device, producing printed products with a predetermined length material web, wherein the length of the material web is defined by the printed product, wherein the material web is assembled from several lined up partial webs with at least partially different lengths, wherein the supply of the partial webs on the printing device is provided automatically with the aid of a material management system, wherein the control unit of the material management system determines the demand of partial webs, wherein the partial webs chosen for production and having different lengths are fed to the printing device in a certain sequence, so that the last one of the partial webs with different lengths being used has a minimum length, wherein the minimum length of the last partial web is determined by an end of said partial web finishing the production, is achieved at the earliest after the cycle time has ended, wherein the cycle time is a time frame wherein a material web or one of the partial webs are prepared for the respective use in the printing device.
