A description is given of a method for injecting a strand of a pasty material into the intermediate space between two glass panes (33, 34) of an insulating glass plate, in that a nozzle (25) with at least one mouth which is directed into the intermediate space between the glass panes (33, 34) is moved along the edge of at least one of the two glass panes (33, 34) and the pasty material is fed to the nozzle (25) during this movement, in that this material or a constituent of this material is respectively pressed out of at least one refillable reservoir (15, 15', 16, 16', 27, 27'), which is connected to the nozzle (25) by a first delivery path. According to the invention, it is provided that two arrangements that are connected to the nozzle (25) and comprise a reservoir (15, 15', 16, 16', 27, 27') and a torpedo (17, 17', 28, 28') engaging in the said reservoir are respectively operated in opposite directions for the material or for constituents of the material.
