The device has a transporting device for transporting a spent wire (1) from a machining region towards a recovery receptacle (12), where an electrical contact e.g. metal nipple (14) is connected to one of poles of a voltage/current source (17). The wire is subjected to a dielectric fluid whose flow rate is high to generate a turbulent flow regime. The wire sporadically brushes against the contact by random lateral movements of the fluid and acquires potential of the contact. Another pole of the current/voltage source is connected to a contact placed downstream of the transporting device.
