The invention relates to a control element (1) for a motor vehicle, comprising a control knob that is held in the control element (1) in such a manner that it can at least be rotated and pushed, every movement being associated with a switch and/or regulation function. The control knob is additionally a slider-type knob and the sliding movement proceeds in a plane that is horizontal with respect to the control knob (2).
