The invention relates to a method of decoding a signal representative of an image sequence. According to the invention, such a method comprises the following steps: extraction from said signal of motion tubes, each of said tubes being defined by at least the following information: a block of reference pixels comprising reference texture information; start of tube and end of tube instants; transition information; - processing of said transition information; combining of the information associated with the current blocks of at least two of said tubes overlapping in a zone of overlap of said current image.
