The present invention relates to a method for determining a fuel portion in a motor oil of a motor vehicle, wherein the motor oil is brought between at least two electrodes forming a capacitor, wherein the capacity of the capacitor is determined while the motor oil is located between the electrodes, and wherein the fuel portion in the motor oil is determined from the capacity of the capacitor. The invention further relates to a device for determining a fuel portion in a motor oil of a motor vehicle.
