The invention relates to means for brightening keratin fibers, particularly human hair, having at least one particle-shaped component that comprises a particle core and a sheath surrounding said core, said sheath consisting at least 50% by weight, preferably at least 70% by weight, more preferred at least 90% by weight, and particularly 100% by weight of a) homopolymers and/or copolymers of methacrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid esters and/or b) homopolymers and/or copolymers of vinyl acetate.
