The plate (172) is fixed onto the optical base (2) by adhesive such that the photo receiving portion (17) is adhered and fixed to the optical base (2). The plate (172) is in a substantially circular shape in plan view. Displacement of the photodetector by uneven cure shrinkage of the adhesive is reduced compared to an arrangement in which the photodetector is loaded on a rectangular plate.
