Disclosed is an image display device and an image display method thereof that may generate a plurality of directional lights (263) based on a number of views of an input image by using a variable scattering feature of a variable scattering layer (230) included in a backlight unit (136), and may output a multi-view image by using the generated plurality of directional lights (263).
