The invention concerns a method of transmitting a piece of information, as well as a sender (1) and a receiver (2) to execute this method. The piece of information is to be transmitted from the sender (1) to the receiver (2) through a communication network (100) comprising N at least partly disjoint transmission paths (P1, P2, P3), wherein N is an integer with N > 2. Encoded information is generated by adding redundancy information to the piece of information. The encoded information is split into N subsets of encoded information in a way that the piece of information can only be decoded from a combination of M subsets of the N subsets, wherein M is an integer with 1 N. Each of the N subsets of encoded information is sent via a different path of the N at least partly disjoint transmission paths (P1, P2, P3) from the sender (1) to the receiver (2). The receiver (2) receives M subsets of the N subsets of encoded information. The piece of information is decoded from a combination of the received M subsets of encoded information.
