An aim of the invention is to create a method and a system allowing simple and fast provision of extensive information and/or services for the receiver (104) of a postal item (101). The invention proposes applying access information associated with the information and/or the service to the postal item (101), said access information being captured by means of a capturing device. The information and/or the service are requested by a server device (303) using the access information, said device providing the information and/or the service as a result of the request. In addition to providing information, for example, the shipment of a catalog, execution of an order, or shipment of a coupon code is offered as a service.
