The invention relates to a lancet comprising a base body (2), which has a test region (3) on an upper face for analysing a bodily fluid, a piercing element (4) that projects from the base body (2) for pricking the skin of a patient and a capillary structure (5) that is used to transport a sample of bodily fluid from the piercing element (4) to the test region (3). According to the invention, the capillary structure (5) has a section that allows liquid to be transported in a direction which, when the upper face of the base body (2) is viewed from above, has a component running perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the piercing element (4).
