A method of manufacturing footwear including the steps of positioning a sole member (26) on a first portion (30) of a cutting assembly (32); heating a second portion (52) of the cutting assembly, the second portion including a cutting die (42); pressing the heated cutting die (42) into the sole member to form a plurality of sipes in the sole member; and removing the cutting die (42) from the sole member.
