The invention relates to a liquid filter (1) comprising a filter housing (10), a ring filter insert (2) and a cover (16), the bottom (18) of the housing (10) containing an eccentric outlet (13) for emptying the housing (10) when the filter insert (2) is removed. The filter insert (2) consists of a filter material body (20) surrounded by front panels (21, 22). A blocking element for the outlet (13) is arranged on the front panel (22) facing the bottom (18), and positioning means are provided on the filter insert (2) and on the housing (10), said positioning means bringing the blocking element (24) into engagement with the outlet (13) when the filter insert (2) is inserted into the housing (10). The filter (1) according to the invention is characterised in that the first positioning means is an inclined plane (3) that is embodied or arranged a) on the outer circumference of a filter housing part (15) arranged inside the ring filter insert (2), b) on the inner circumference of the ring filter insert (2), c) on the outer circumference of the ring filter insert (2), or d) on the inner circumference of the filter housing (10); and the second positioning means is a radially protruding nose (4) embodied or arranged, opposite the inclined plane (3), a) on the inner circumference of the ring filter insert (2), b) on the outer circumference of the filter housing part (15) arranged inside the ring filter insert (2), c) on the inner circumference of the filter housing (10), or d) on the outer circumference of the ring filter insert (2). When the ring filter insert (2) is rotated in relation to the filter housing (10), the inclined plane (3) and the nose (4) can be moved in relation to each other in such a way that they slide along each other and bring the blocking element (24) into engagement with the outlet (13).
