For implementing energy control, an energy control attribute is assigned to the quality of service class. On the basis of the energy control attribute, a data throughput for forwarding the data traffic is limited to a maximum limit. This may be accomplished by using a throughput limiter (150, 250) in one or more nodes (100, 110, 120, 200) participating in the transport of the data traffic.
