A connector (20, 150, 220, 320) for connecting modular carpet tiles (41-44, 50, 61-64, 200, 214) each tile having an underside, the connector comprising:
a. a film (22);
b. a radio frequency transponder (322, 324, 326, 328) attached to the film (22); and
c. an adhesive (24) on a side of the film, wherein the adhesive (24) is capable of forming a bond with the undersides of the tiles (41-44, 50, 61-64, 200, 214) so that, when the connector (20, 150, 220, 320) spans adjacent edges of adjacent tiles (41-44, 50, 61-64, 200, 214) so that the adhesive contacts the undersides of the adjacent tiles, the adhesive prevents relative movement between the adjacent tiles.
