A windshield wiper assembly (26) adapted to be mounted to the attachment portion of a wiper arm (224) including a coupler assembly (44) mounted to a wiper blade and serving to interconnect the wiper blade (32) to the wiper arm. The coupler assembly (44) includes a coupler (246) having a body (260) with a pair of sidewalls (262), a channel (264) defined between the sidewalls and extending substantially parallel thereto. The channel (264) is adapted to cooperatively receive the attachment portion of the wiper arm. A latching mechanism (268) is operatively mounted to the body (260) and movable between an open position spaced from the channel (264) and a closed position disposed over the channel (264) to secure the attachment portion of the wiper arm between the latching mechanism (268) and the body (260) thereby securing the coupler (246) to the attachment portion of the wiper arm.
