A method and an apparatus for adding an auxiliary visual object (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9) to an image (1) or a sequence of images are described. Metadata provided for the image (1) or the sequence of images is retrieved and a position for an auxiliary visual object (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9) in the image (1) or the sequence of images is determined from the retrieved metadata. An auxiliary visual object (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9) is then added to the image (1) or the sequence of images in accordance with the determined position.
