A device and a method thereof for forming the ends of a pipe element. The device (74) comprises a first roller (78) and second roller (80) for imparting a shape to a sidewall of a pipe element. The first roller (78) rotates about an axis (82) and comprises a first segment (94) having a first outer diameter (94a); a second segment (96) positioned contiguous with said first segment (94) and having a second outer diameter (96a) smaller than said first outer diameter (94a); a third segment (98) positioned contiguous with said second segment (96) and having a third outer diameter (98a) larger than said second outer diameter (96a).
The second roller (80) rotates about an axis (88) and comprises a fourth segment (104) having a fourth outer diameter (104a); a fifth segment (106) positioned contiguous with said fourth segment (104) and having a fifth outer diameter (106a) greater than said fourth outer diameter (104a); a sixth segment (108) positioned contiguous with said fifth segment (106) and having an sixth outer diameter (108a) less than said fifth outer diameter (106a); and a seventh segment (110) positioned contiguous with said sixth segment (108) and having a seventh outer diameter (110a) approximately equal to said fifth outer diameter (106a).
The second roller (80) rotates about an axis (88) and comprises a fourth segment (104) having a fourth outer diameter (104a); a fifth segment (106) positioned contiguous with said fourth segment (104) and having a fifth outer diameter (106a) greater than said fourth outer diameter (104a); a sixth segment (108) positioned contiguous with said fifth segment (106) and having an sixth outer diameter (108a) less than said fifth outer diameter (106a); and a seventh segment (110) positioned contiguous with said sixth segment (108) and having a seventh outer diameter (110a) approximately equal to said fifth outer diameter (106a).
