A method of washing dishes by means of a dishwasher, comprising a plurality of racks placed in a washing compartment and intended to support the dishes during the wash, said method being characterised in that the dishwasher implements a procedure comprising the steps of:
a) selecting the wash parameters according to at least:
- a first input concerning the type of cycle to be implemented, said first input being selectable from a discrete list;
- a second input concerning the rack on which the dishes to be washed are positioned;
b) performing the wash.
