The invention relates an overvoltage arrester (1), comprising a device socket (2) with an U-shaped insert part receiving element (11), wherein the device socket (2) is provided to be fastened to a mounting rail. According to the invention, at least two insert parts (3) are arranged in the insert part receiving element (11), each of the insert parts (3) comprising at least one overvoltage protection element.
