The invention relates to phytoecdysones for use in improving muscle quality in obese and/or sarcopenic mammals. More particularly, the invention relates to the obese mammals subjected to a low‑calorie diet. The phytoecdysones are advantageously incorporated into a food composition. According to the invention, the phytoecdysones can be derived from plants, such as quinoa.
