A railway network (10) comprising a track (12), a network energy supply (14) and several trains (16) that can be connected to the network energy supply (14) via means (20) of connection (16) to the network energy supply (14) and each comprising an internal energy storage system (24) for receiving and storing energy originating from said train (16) or trains (16) of the railway network (10) and for furnishing said train (16) or trains (16) of the railway network (10) with energy. Each train (16) is able to pass from an in-service state in which it is able to move around on the system of rails (12) to a stopped state in which it is unable to move around on the system of rails (12) and vice versa. At least one of the trains (16) of the railway network (10) is both in the stopped state and under tension, its internal energy storage system (24) being connected to the network energy supply (14).
