A method of providing user equipment with assistance information in a heterogeneous wireless telecommunications network, a computer program product and network control node operable to perform that method. The method comprises: determining user equipment assistance information capability; selecting appropriate assistance information for user equipment based on the determined capability; and communicating the assistance information to the user equipment. It will be appreciated that aspects and embodiments may allow a network to provide specific assistance information relating to low power node proximity, rather than a network providing all information irrespective of user equipment capability. By providing only relevant information, overall signalling within a network may be reduced.
