Barbed tape (1; 401; 501; 701) formed from a planar strip of flexible material and comprising a plurality of barbs (5, 405, 505) disposed therealong, said barbs (5; 405; 505) being sufficiently resilient so as to impede, by entanglement with or otherwise, the passage of an object therepast. Apparatus for deployment of barbed tape (1; 401; 501; 701) is also described.
