The present invention is a method for selective oxidation of one or more metals from an iron melt, comprising the steps of making available an iron melt in a converter, and adding easily reducible oxide to the iron melt in order thereby to oxidize said one or more metals, characterized in that the converter is provided with an arrangement for induction heating, by means of which the heat balance in the converter can be controlled fully or partially.
