The floating leg gathers each have a top part and a trailing part which adjoins the top part. The front ends and the rear ends of the floating leg gathers are joined respectively to the vicinity of the front end and the vicinity of the rear end of the main body of the absorbent article. The trailing parts trail downwards from the top parts towards the absorbent body. At least one part of the trailing parts of the pair of left and right floating leg gathers is mutually connected in the lower end area, to form a channel for bodily fluids inside the trailing parts.
