Provided are an air conditioning system and a method of controlling the same. The air conditioning system includes an outdoor unit disposed in an outdoor space, the outdoor unit including a compressor and an outdoor heat exchanger, a plurality of indoor units disposed in an indoor space, the plurality of indoor units including an indoor heat exchanger, and a distribution unit distributing and introducing a refrigerant into the plurality of indoor units. The outdoor unit includes an outdoor branch part branched into a plurality of refrigerant paths, a first outdoor tube extending from the outdoor branch part to guide the refrigerant to a first heat exchange part of the outdoor heat exchanger, a second outdoor tube extending from the outdoor branch part to guide the refrigerant to a second heat exchange part of the outdoor heat exchanger, and a bypass tube extending from the outdoor branch part to allow the refrigerant to bypass the outdoor heat exchanger, thereby guiding the refrigerant to the compressor.
