The method is for testing the plausibility of electric impedance measurement values. The measurement values are determined during the measurement of the bio-impedance of a person. Real parts and imaginary parts of the impedance measurement values are determined for a plurality of different frequencies and are localised in a complex representation plane. The representation plane is defined by a coordinate axis for the imaginary part and a coordinate axis for the real part. The localisation of the measurement values in the complex representation plane is compared to a desired profile, and the measurement values are adjudged to be not plausible if a predefinable deviation from the desired profile is exceeded.
