The invention relates to an image capturing system (100) for capturing images of a feature of an identification document which has designs dependent on an angle of illumination, and comprising: a document bed (101) for said identification document; an illumination device (125) for illuminating the document bed (101) from different angles of illumination; and an image-capturing camera (103) for capturing images of said feature, depending on the angle of illumination.
