A gasket in which a high sealing property can be ensured, and a method of producing such a gasket are provided. A gasket 1 is produced by spirally winding a beltlike composite body 13 having a metal mesh member 11 and expanded graphite 12 enveloped by the metal mesh member, and then compression molding the composite body into a tubular shape. The gasket includes a first sealing portion 21 placed in one axial end portion, and a second sealing portion 22 placed in the other axial end portion. The gasket has a sectional shape in which the composite body that is in a bent state overlaps in a radial direction. The composite body includes a bent portion which is radially bent in an acute angle shape.
