The disclosure relates to a method for data packet transmission from a network node of a telecommunications network. The method involves transmitting, from the network node, a plurality of data packets onto a first communications path of the telecommunications network, the plurality of data packets comprising a first data packet. At least one network coded data packet is obtained at the network node, wherein the at least one network coded data packet is obtained from network coding of two or more data packets and wherein at least one data packet of the two or more data packets corresponds to the first data packet transmitted onto the first communications path. The obtained at least one network coded data packet is transmitted from the network node onto a second communications path of the telecommunications network.
