The invention relates to an energy absorption device, comprising an energy absorption element, which is at least partially composed of an energy absorption fiber composite structure. The invention is characterized in that the energy absorption fiber composite structure (1) is formed by at least one first fiber material layer (2), which comprises the at least one fiber layer (7) or a plurality of fiber layers composed of unidirectionally oriented endless fibers (4) and matrix material (6), and at least one second fiber material layer (3), which comprises one or more fiber layers (8) of multidirectionally oriented long fibers (5) and matrix material (9), the first and second fiber material layers (2, 3) being connected to each other.
