Method for prioritizing data flows in a network comprising an earliest deadline first (EDF) scheduling system, comprising the steps of requesting data flows at respective first moments of time; assigning to each one of the data flows a respective deadline relating to a respective second moment of time of consumption of the data flow; assigning a respective parameter to each one of the data flows indicative for a time difference between the respective first moment of time and the respective second moment of time; when network congestions occurs, prioritizing said data flows by dropping at least portions of the data flows based on their respective parameters.
