The invention relates to a process for the preparation and isolation of carboxylic esters. Said process is based on the reaction of a carboxylic acid with an alcohol in the aqueous medium. In order to do so, the alcohol is used for both esterifying and precipitating the salts obtained during synthesis, preferably ammonium salts.
