A voltage driver (10) includes a voltage input (140) and a voltage regulation controller (110) with an on/off input (150). The voltage regulation controller (110) is configured to control a switching converter (12) in a first mode and a second mode. The switching converter (12) is configured to operate as an open pass switch in the first mode and configured to operate as a closed pass switch in the second mode. The switching converter (12) includes an inductive load control switch (190).
