The sliding gate includes at least two vertical pillars (1), at least one door leaf (2), a means for holding said door leaf, and a motor-driven means capable of translating said door leaf (2). Each pillar (1) is made up of: - two parallel vertical posts (3a, 3b), the bottom and top ends of which are connected by a bottom plate (4a) and a top plate (4b), respectively; - a carriage (5) made up of an inverted T-shaped beam (9), the base (10) of which is secured to the bottom plate (4a) and one rod (11) of which has, on the top end thereof, rollers (12) having a door leaf supported thereon, said beam (9) projecting on both sides of the posts (3a, 3b) of the pillar (1); - a so-called "guide" skid (6) that is secured to the inner surface of one post (3a), extends near the top end of said post (3a), and is capable of engaging with a longitudinal rail (16) rigidly connected to one of the surfaces of the door leaf (2); and - drive means (7) that are rigidly connected to said post (3a), extending between the carriage (5) and the skid (6), and engaging with a complementary drive means (8) secured to the door leaf (2).
