In an electromagnetic contact device, having a contactor holder 40 which moves a mounted movable contactor 42a according to displacement of a movable core 32 forming an electromagnet for operation 30, with the contactor holder 40 being accommodated together with the electromagnet for operation 30 in a case 1, the case 1 has: a lower case portion 10 which accommodates the electromagnet for operation 30; and an upper case portion 20, which engages with the lower case portion 10 while stacked on the lower case portion 10, and which accommodates the contactor holder 40 advanced for the accommodation from above. It is, in particular, preferable that the upper case portion 20 have a recess 21 which opens upward, and accommodate the contactor holder 40 which is placed on the bottom wall of the recess 21, and it is preferable that the lower case portion 10 accommodates one selected alternately between a DC-only electromagnet 30b and an AC-only electromagnet 30a.
