The present invention relates to a method for producing an orthosis (1). This method comprises at least the steps of acquiring (A) patient data (PD) of at least one body part of a patient, wherein the body part is supported substantially free of holding devices during the acquisition, determining and/or acquiring (B) reference coordinates (RK) of virtual and/or physical target objects on the body part, wherein the body part is supported substantially fee of holding devices during the determination and/or acquisition and wherein the target objects represent at least one location on the surface of the body part, said location being representative of the placement of the orthosis (1) on the body part, individually adapting (C) a digital orthosis model based on the patient data (PD) and the reference coordinates (RK), and producing the orthosis (1) based on the adapted digital orthosis model (MOD). The invention moreover relates to an orthosis produced with the aid of the method.
