A harness for a rucksack. The harness is configured to be at least in part in contact with user's back in use. The harness comprises a back portion, and at least one strap extending from the back portion. The strap is a shoulder strap extending from the top end of the back portion or a hip portion extending from the back portion arranged to extend around a portion of a user's torso in use. The harness is of knitted construction, and the knitting pattern varies in density across the harness.
