A method of performing channel assessment, the method comprising transmitting via a set of aggregated channels that comprise a primary channel and at least one non-primary channel; determining that a channel assessment on a non-primary channel is to be triggered; based on the determining, triggering a channel assessment event on the non-primary channel; receiving a frame via the non-primary channel, wherein the frame is sent in response to the channel assessment event; and determining a channel quality for the non-primary channel based on the received frame.
